![](/files/c0YNBWLMV4Mfw58u5GNa)

AIF is the acronym for the ATLAS Insurance Fund which is a separate wallet in the [Atlas Rebase Engine (ARE)](/the-atlas-project/atlas-economy/contract-features/atlas-rebase-engine-auto-staking-and-auto-compounding-protocol.md). The PIF uses an algorithm that backs the Rebase Rewards and is supported by a portion of the buy and sell trading fees that accrue in the AIF wallet.

**4%** of all ***sales*** are safeguarded by the Atlas Insurance Fund (**AIF**), which is designated to ensure the constant stability of prices & investments held as the project continues & back the staking rewards created by the positive rebase.

### **AIF Keeps Holders Safe**

* **Avoiding flash crashes through price stability**
* **Achieving long-term sustainability and future growth of the ATLAS Protocol**
* **Greatly reducing downside risk**
